Today I realized that my favorite part of the weekday, aside from finally coming home at the end of it and seeing boyfriend and my super-cute kitties, is the 35 minutes I have to myself to read in the morning on my way in to work on the subway, in a seat because I'm one of the first stops, and the 35 minutes I have to myself to read on the ride home. I find this realization a bit sad. Call me crazy, but is the rest of my day so awful that the best part of it is reading. By myself? Work isn't awful, it's just that I'm filled with anxiety throughout most of it, especially today. I was afraid of going into cardiac arrest all day. Is this not normal? Someone tell me they know what I mean and that this has happened to you before? Ok, so maybe I'm a little crazy, but what do you think the best and worst parts of the day are??

the best part of my day is when an annoying PR girl calls me asking about a random New Jersey newspaper 50 miles from me...but I also enjoy the 35 minutes it takes my work computer to load up. I get some nice reading done too. Except today. I wasn't gonna go into cardiac arrest, but it was rough. My editor actually started being nice to me after a while when he realized how bad it was. He was just happy it was happening to me and not him....wow i typed a lot
If it weren't for these fabulous PR people, the world would miss out on toooooooooons of exciting news.
Anyway, sorry to hear your day was rough, but - buck up and get over it because everyone has days like that! In fact, I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown at last 2-3 days a week at work.
you get over it. you're on the verge of a nervous breakdown all the time because you have crazy disease.
Hmmmm good point. But maybe you've caught it from being my BFF . . . .
I also have a 35 min. trip of reading each way, but on the Chicago subway. I agree...best hour and 10 min. of my day!!
Thanks for your comment on mine! I've been reading your blog for a few months now, and just want you to know that I really enjoy it! It's become a lunchtime staple.
Abe
Thanks, Abe! I love to hear from my blog followers, especially ones that I don't personally harass (my friends and family) to read the blog. And please, feel free to force, I mean, encourage, your friends to check out the blog too! Shameless self-promotion? Yes, but I have no shame.
I like your blog too and I've added it to my "Blogs I Enjoy" list. I saw that I'm your list too, so thank you!
Well thanks :) I will continue to force, I mean, encourage, my friends to read yours as well. Keep 'em coming!
i wrote a really long witty comment (honest, ha!) then it got lost in connection-lost land. anyway my point was i LOVED commuting too cos of the reading part. i miss that with walking to work. i wish i could walk and read at the same time. . .
UGH, I hate when that happens, Paula! It usually happens to me just as I'm putting the finishing touches on a big e-mail to a client.
Word to the wise, don't try the walk and read thing - I almost got into several fights on the way to my subway after work today because of people not paying attention to the task at hand (walking) and bumping into me.
i love your blog - i just came across it the other day and really enjoy reading it! the best part of my day is definitely when i get home at night and can sit with my hubby and my kitty and my book. i listen to a book in my car on the commute to and from work - and that's basically the only reason my drive seems bareable. it's not as great as reading at home - but it's better then listening to the radio. if i were on a subway in the morning - i would totally be reading a book.
Thanks, Brandy. I like your blog too! :)
